Johku is built by one core team that understands both the day-to-day running of a tourism business and the technology behind the system.
The three founders (Sami Hänninen, Marko Tukiainen and Saku Mikkola) have built digital services together since the early 2000s.
The concept and business, the backend and integrations, and the user interfaces and usability are all the responsibility of our own core team.
Marko Tukiainen is responsible for Johku's technology, server environments, databases, APIs and integrations.
Tourism entrepreneurship is part of the team's own experience: Sami has been a tourism entrepreneur since 2010, and Ilkka Lariola founded Natura Viva in 2007.
Ilkka brings to the team experience in tourism business, digital sales and partnership models, and a merchant's perspective from using Johku since 2017.
Minna Mikkola is responsible for communications and merchant support and has worked in Johku's merchant support since 2016.
