In Johku, strong customer authentication is product-specific and seamlessly integrated into the acceptance of terms within the ordering process. By authenticating purchasing customers, the trust level of the buyer is elevated, and the merchant’s risk is reduced. This approach also opens new opportunities to engage and link the customer to the contents of their order and the specific terms at the product level. Combined with product-specific forms, strong customer authentication provides innovative ways to manage processes where the buyer and the authenticated individual are different parties (e.g., an underage buyer with a guardian providing authentication).
By default, strong authentication is automatically available to all Johku merchants. The basic pricing is suitable for occasional, low-volume use, such as sales initiated by the merchant through payment links.
Transaction fee: €2 per initiated authentication event (VAT 0%).
The price includes authentication with Finnish bank credentials or a mobile certificate, and the authentication process can be activated per product in the product settings. Transaction fees are automatically billed based on the number of initiated authentication events via commission invoices.
When strong authentication is intended for broader use as part of the online store's order process, the number of authentication events is generally higher. In this case, it’s advisable to implement volume pricing.

Volume pricing is always ordered separately and is enabled by Johku’s customer service after the annual fee has been paid. Once activated, the transaction fee is reduced to the volume rate. Transaction fees are automatically billed on a commission invoice based on actual usage. The price includes authentication with Finnish bank credentials or a mobile certificate. The annual fee is always paid in advance and is non-refundable. The termination notice period is 1 month.
